Businesses and some people in Jičín will see their property tax rise

Businesses and some people in the town of Jičín will see their property tax rise from 2025. They will lose the current relief provided for by a municipal ordinance, which is no longer allowed by the amendment to the real estate tax law in force from 1 January 2025, Peter Bareš, secretary of the Jičín town hall said yesterday. For taxpayers, this will mean, for example, an increase in real estate tax by hundreds of crowns for a family house or an apartment.

The tax rate for business buildings, family recreation and detached garages in Jičín is still reduced by 25 percent. For properties in outlying districts, such as Hubálov, Popovice, Robousy or Moravčice, the rate has been halved by the city's decision. This will no longer be possible from 2025 and the coefficient set by law will apply to properties in Jičín without exception.

In order to comply with the law, the town will repeal the general binding decree from 2021, which introduced lower coefficients for calculating the tax. The decision is expected to be made by the councillors on 29 April.
Property tax is a revenue of municipalities and cities. Last year, Jičín received CZK 14.2 million in property tax. For this year, the town is expected to receive about CZK 23.6 million from the property tax. The increased revenue results from the government's consolidation package, which raised the property tax by an average of 1.8 times.
