German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies completed a HUF 17bn expansion of its base in Cegléd, about 70 km south of Budapest. The Hungarian government supported the project with a HUF 1.2bn non-returnable grant. The semiconductors produced by Infineon play a key role in electric cars, self-driving vehicles, solar cells and wind turbines. Infineon Technologies employs approximately 37,500 people worldwide. Its new investment will create 533 jobs.
